Fire at Oud Reemst under control
According to the spokesman for the fire brigade, about four hectares of nature were burnt at Oud Reemst this afternoon. The fire was discovered around 12.45 hours, after which several platoons fire engines set off to extinguish the fire. After a small hour the fire was under control and in the meantime the signal fire master has been given.
Tourists who were in the area left on their own initiative when they saw clouds of smoke and smelled a burning smell. Nothing is known about the cause of the fire. The fire brigade will continue to extinguish for some time in the dry moorland.
There is no risk for visitors to the Park, but hikers and cyclists must continue to avoid the affected area around Oud Reemst. The Harderwijkerweg (N310) between Schaarsbergen and Otterlo will remain closed for the time being.
