Oud-Reemsterzand

Oud-Reemsterzand offers a special combination of nature and history. Traces of medieval settlements were discovered in its sandy moorlands, as well as a wide band of historical cart tracks from a 13th-century trade route that ran from Arnhem to Harderwijk, the main port of the province of Gelderland. When the Kröller-Müllers created the current Park, shortly after 1900, the old cart tracks were still visible in the heathland, where they remain to this day as interesting cultural-historical relics of past infrastructure.
