Mosses and lichens

More

Mosses are part of the plant family, whereas lichens are not.

A lichen is a composite organism that emerges from algae and lives among fungus in a symbiotic relationship. Lichens therefore belong to the fungus family and are not considered land plants.

You can spot lichens in many surprising places where plants have a hard time growing, such as on bark, stones, and sand.
